Sclafani BioFuel
BioHeat is super neat! BioFuel is super cool! Seriously though, we all want to do our part to keep the environment safe and improve the Earth's atmosphere! At Sclafani, "we make warm friends". We want to keep you warm and give you the option to leave your carbon footprint a little cleaner. Our children and grandchildren will know that we too did our part to insure the world is a better place because we looked after their future!
Sclafani Biofuel can turn your furnace into a cleaner, leaner, meaner heating machine! We now blend BioHeat and BioDiesel at our own state of the art facility. BioHeat is made from domestic, renewable soy bean oil blended with heating oil or diesel. This aides American farmers, creates jobs within the manufacturing process right here at home and is a renewable energy resource. The use of BioFuel reduces imports and the dependency on foreign oil. BioHuet is not pure vegetable oil – it is made through a distillation process that separates the glycerin from the oil. It is washed of impurities and then the glycerin is separated and used in products such as soap. The oil or methyl ester remains and is blended with home heating oil or diesel. This produces our BioFuel. We currently blend a B5, the recommended blend of the EPA and the various tax agencies. Our product is ninety five percent heating oil, five percent soy oil. It may be used in any home, school, factory or heating system that regularly uses heating oil without any modifications to the system. Biofuel simply produces a cleaner burn. Our biofuel conforms to ASTM (D6751) standards. We purchase B100 from certified suppliers and blend it with our high quality clean fuel oil. We guarantee only the highest quality in our products.
BioHeat takes on all the same properties of heating oil and acts identically once blended. Biofuel blends have lower emissions compared to pure petroleum products. B100 is less toxic than table salt and biodegrades as fast as sugar. It helps reduce greenhouse gases and global warming. It burns cleaner in your system leaving less residue. BioHeat is a tested product – it is currently used to heat school districts, government buildings, offices, and houses, and powers school bus fleets, commercial fleets, and our very own homes and our office building. Cleaner fuels have a positive impact on cleanliness of filters, strainers and nozzles. The sulfur content of B100 is zero. Both BioHeat and fuel oil are similar in terms of performance, with similar BTU content and combustion rate. Biofuel has less smoke and sulfur oxides.
A B5 blend is approved for use by every major manufacturer of furnaces and burners. It will not void your service contracts or warranties. It will not harm gaskets or seals! BioDiesel has superior lubricity, which lowers the maintenance costs for diesel engines and furnaces. Both John Deere and Jeep Liberty have certified that their engines will run to spec on biofuel. BioDiesel is the only alternative fuel to have fully completed the health effects testing requirements of the Clean Air Act.
The use of BioDiesel in a conventional diesel engine results in a substantial reduction of unburned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter compared to emissions from regular diesel fuel. The exhaust emissions of sulfur oxides and sulfates, which are the major components of acid rain, are essentially eliminated with the use of biofuel over standard diesel. The use of biofuel also substantially reduces the amount of unburned hydrocarbons, a primary cause of ozone destruction and smog formation. In fact, the overall ozone destruction potential when using biofuel was measured at nearly 50% less than that of diesel fuel. Biodiesel reduces net CO2 emissions by 78% compared to petroleum diesel. This is due to the closed carbon cycle of BioDiesel – the CO2 that is released into the atmosphere when BioDiesel is burned is then used by growing plants, which are then processed into more biofuel. B5 Biodiesel can be operated in any diesel engine with no modifications. Biodiesel does have a solvent, cleaning, effect that may release the deposits accumulated on your tank walls or pipes from previous diesel fuel storage. The release of these deposits may initially clog filters - we may need to change your filter once as you switch to BioFuel but you wind up with a cleaner tank and system!
New York State offers tax rebates for the use of biofuel. We recommend you check the NYS Tax department web site for the current rate. When your taxes are due we will be happy to provide you with a print out of your usage in order for you to take the credit.
BioFuel is available both dyed for home heating oil use and undyed for on road use. Ever drive behind one of those smelly city buses and choke? Help us reduce those toxins. A twenty percent blend of soy and low sulfur diesel provides superior emissions benefits.
What does it mean for me? It means a greener world, your furnace burns cleaner, your chimney is cleaner, your reduce soot and pollutants from your chimney or diesel engine and with the cost structure at this level you do not have to make a financial sacrifice to improve performance and reduce greenhouse gasses!
The time has come to upgrade to BioFuel!
